NORMAN, OK -- The new MAXA-MI$ER® Energy Recovery Ventilator (ERV) from YORK International Corporation’s Unitary Products Group (UPG) reduces heating and cooling costs by using exhaust air to condition incoming air.
Using an enthalpy wheel that contains a silica gel desiccant, the unit absorbs heat in building exhaust air and transfers that energy into the intake air, warming the air in winter and cooling it in summer. This process reduces the heating or cooling load and the associated energy costs, saving money in five ways:
• Capital costs because of reduced installed tonnage for HVAC system; the ERV’s energy efficiency demands a smaller HVAC system.

By tempering intake air temperature and humidity to match the temperature and humidity level of indoor air, the YORK MAXA-MI$ER also helps provide more consistent indoor air quality (IAQ). As a result, the cost of frequent air exchanges is reduced.
The MAXA-MI$ER is a unitized system that directly couples the ERV to a packaged air conditioning system for optimum operation. Not only does it present warm exhaust air directly to the air conditioning unit, but it also eliminates the cost of additional ductwork and dampers.
Compatible with the YORK Champion™, Predator™, and Sunline™ series, the MAXA-MI$ER is easily integrated into new and existing buildings. Its exclusive balancing damper simplifies the task of balancing the MAXA-MI$ER with the air conditioning unit to achieve the proper mix of exhaust and intake air. The unit also moves the enthalpy wheel out of the air stream for true compressor-free economizer operation, without the need for expensive bypass dampers.
