Complementing UPG’s existing 10, 12, and 14 SEER Olympian models, the 13 SEER model meets the requirements for the government program ENERGY STAR™, which establishes standards for energy efficiency for heating and air conditioning as well as other appliances.

“Most 13 SEER units fall into ‘premium’ lines and come at high prices for both contractors and homeowners,” said Chuck Thompson, YORK brand director. “The 13 SEER Olympian, on the other hand, was designed on our existing mid-level x-cube platform, allowing the unit to provide greater cooling efficiency at a competitive price and with the added attraction of utility rebates in certain states.”

Offering a 1.5-ton to 5-ton capacity and 18 Mbh to 60 Mbh, depending on the model, the Olympian 13 SEER accommodates more coil surface, allowing for better heat transfer, increased energy efficiency, and ultimately, lower cooling costs. The unit is also capable of achieving a higher 15+ SEER rating when matched with a compatible YORK air handler, variable-speed, or two-stage furnace. Additional features of the Olympian 13 SEER unit include:

• plastic coil protection between the coil grille and the condenser coil;
• a copper tube and aluminum fin coil for increased efficiency;
• a solid core filter dryer for compressor protection;
• a raised fan coil guard that reduces operating sound level;
• a compressor relief valve; and
• an enclosed, permanently lubricated fan.
